Ladygrove Primary School & Nursery

 Welcome to Class 6

In this class we love learning and having fun!

We are always here if you have any concerns or questions and would like to thank you for your support.

Mrs Clayton, Miss Green and Miss Harris

PE - Tuesdays and Thursdays

Feel free to send PE kits in on Monday to stay in school all week. Children will need a white t-shirt and blue or black shorts.

The Spinney (forest school) - Fridays

We would like the children to come to school in their forest school clothes (waterproof, warm clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty and wellies/boots-all labelled please) with a labelled plastic bag to put muddy clothes and boots into afterwards. They will need to bring their school uniform and school shoes in a separate bag to change into.

In English this half term we will be continuing to work on forming sentences and punctuating them correctly using full stops and capital letters. We will also be encouraging the children to use phoneme mats to help with spelling and will focus on presentation and handwriting. All of these skills will be taught through writing recounts, diary entries, descriptions, emails and more.

In Maths we are focusing on addition and subtraction, we are also introducing 2D and 3D shapes. We will be launching this using lots of objects to help. We will continue to work on number formation and counting.

Our Science topic is 'Materials' and will involve us exploring a variety of different materials. This will include sorting a range of materials into categories. We will continue our learning around materials during our spinney sessions (forest school).

This half term we would like the children to read at least 3 times a week as their homework.

We would also like them to practise their letter formation to help with writing sessions.

We will also be sending children home with phonics homework to complete.

This half term our topic is Rio de Vida

Dancing feet, step to the samba beat. Shake it, shimmy, hands in the air, wave your flags in the cool night air. Come join the party down in Rio, keeping the rhythm with your party shaker. Bright colours, patterns and feathers. Can you make a headdress or party mask? Meet magical creatures from Brazil’s myths and legends and create your own too. Be as fancy as you like. Let’s get down to Rio where football is king, and practise our skills on golden beaches. Now we need to plan a celebration with fabulous music and song. Let’s invite parents and friends to come along. Bem-vindo ao Brasil os meus amigos.

We allow staff time off to undertake union official duties, however we do not have any staff who are currently union officials.
